SIS Hydraulic Solutions Greyhounds OHF Champions
The SIS Hydraulic Solutions Soo Jr. Greyhounds hit Toronto on Thursday afternoon with the goal of achieving their ultimate success and capturing the OHF All Ontario Championships, and they did in a fun filled weekend with no shortage of hockey drama. The first three games were hard fought and not a walk in the park, although they did take one before every game, and won 10-3 over North Toronto, 9-5 over Stratford Warriors and 5-3 against the Mississauga Jets. Game four saw the hounds up against a very determined Barrie Colts team. The Soo met them in the Regional Qualifier for the Silver Sticks Semi’s and also had a very hard time but the Hounds managed to tie the Colts here and go on to the semi’s of the OHF Championships with a first overall ranking and a head of steam that they thought no one could stop. Possibly looking past the Stratford Warriors to a Mississauga team that had already qualified earlier on Sunday, the Soo had a back and fourth game with no guarantees. The final score was 9-6 for the Hounds but the game was a lot closer than that. The Jr. Hounds have been taking too many penalties all tournament and this was the problem today with several hounds taking multiple penalties and with four goals against the Hounds the coach decided a goaltending change was in order to send a message to the boys. Not for a lack of good play but that’s what you sign up for when you’re a goaltender at this level. The Hounds seemed to respond and put the game away late in the third period. Fans and players alike celebrated for a chance to bring the cup home to Sault Ste. Marie again. In the final game against the tough Mississauga team who had a reputation for not giving up a lot of goals the hounds pulled out in front early with #14 Blake Antonello, assist from #8 Holden Brock scoring at 11:24 of the first. #2 Justin “Pepe” Lemieux assisted by #10 Nicolas Sicoly scored three minutes later on a “in the office” goal as he has all tournament and season making it 2-0 after the end of the first period. Mississauga potted their first at 12:48 of the second only for #3 Matthew Murray assisted by #5 Drake Pilon to put a hard slap shot from the blue line five hole at 11:27. Mississauga put in two more at 6:46 and 1:52 to tie up the game and change the momentum in their favor. 3-3 after two and like the announcer said “fans I think we have a hockey game”. Mississauga made the fans and the Hounds very nervous and tentative when the scored early in the third, 14:18 to pull ahead of the Hound team and cause the second goaltender change in as many games. The pressure on these goalies is tremendous and an almost relieved goal tender said “good luck, win it for us” and sat on the bench and cheered the players on. The hounds responded by scoring at the 11:27 mark of the third to tie the game again and here is where the drama got thick. Many many times the Soo or Mississauga could have ended the game in regulation. The Jr. Hounds hit a cross bar and had many a puck sitting in front of an open net but Mississauga wasn’t going to let them put it in. The Soo goalie picked up where the other left off and played stellar to keep it 4-4 at the end of regulation. Off to overtime and as throughout the entire tournament the hounds took a terrible penalty 25 seconds into the overtime period, but again as always the hounds picked up there very upset winger and killed it in style. At the two minute mark Mississauga took their own penalty for too many men, six boys skating up on a Soo goalie was too obvious for the reff to ignore. At 2:12 of the overtime period #4 Daniel Cicchini took a pass from #10 Nicolas Sicoly and put it top corner over the goalies glove to win the OHF All Ontario Championships for a very happy Greyhound team. #4 Daniel Cicchini won the MVP for the final game and #10 Nicolas Sicoly was heralded as the tournament MVP. Congratulations to SIS Hydraulic Solutions Soo Greyhounds on a spectacular year winning tournaments in Guelph, Regional Silver Stick qualifier, NIHL champions, Sarnia Silver Sticks, NOHA championships and the OHF Championships. See most of you next year, two players won’t be continuing with the team #8 Holden Brock and #12 Mark Tassone, who were playing in their minor Atom year, must stay behind to lead the Atom AA team next year. Good luck and success next year…See you in PeeWee AAA guys. Try outs next week for PeeWee AA…see you there…

Hounds tie Barrie 3-3
SIS Hydraulic Solutions Soo Greyhounds had a short break from the morning game, just enough time to eat and get back to the rink to play our second game of the day. This was Barrie's first game of the day and comming from this fan, that was the difference. The hounds came out and scored first at the 9 min mark with #11 Austin Rowe squeeking one in with assists from #8 Holden Brock and #12 Mark Tassone. Barrie tied it up at 7:28 and the Hounds scored again at 1:49 with #10 Nicolas Sicoly pocketing another one from #2 Justin Lemieux and #6 Jonathan Dyer. The second period was a hard fought back and forth period with no scoring. We had a brief 5 on 3 but could not get one past their goal tender. Still 2-1 for the Hounds after 2. The third period saw the hounds go up by 2 with a goal from #2 Justin Lemieux who took a good, from behind the net, pass from #11 Austin Rowe and it appeared the Hounds got the energy boost they needed. The momentum switched quickly though with Barrie scoring 17 seconds later and a tieing goal 3 minutes after that. The Hounds looked tired and the goal tender for the Hounds #30 Joey Roberts did what he needed to keep it a tie and put the Hounds in first place in the round robbin. SIS Hydraulic Solutions Soo Greyhounds play again at 10:00am tomorrow against the fourth place team which to still be decided. Rest, relaxation and some fantastic food from the Food Committee and the Hounds will be ready for the challenge. Semi's at 10am Finals at 3pm... Go Hounds Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hounds donminate Mississauga Jets 5-3
Hounds are now 3-0 with a complete domination of the MIssissauga Jets this morning. #35 Christopher Lindsay was the tender and #5 Drake Pilon opened the scoring at 7:51 of the first period assisted by #2 Justin "Pepe" Lemieux. #10 Nicolas Sicoly finised a great pass from Darian Pilon at 0:46 of the first to end the period Hounds up 2-0. The second was more of the same, the Hounds were very energetic and very physical getting four penalties for body contact/roughing and scoring two more. #10 Nicolas Sicoly added his second of the game short handed when he picked the pocket of the Jets player, went on a break away, deeked out the goalie and scored on a beautifull backhand up high. #12 Mark Tassone also scored walking in and taking a great slap shot beating the goalie down low. Assisted by #11 Austin Rowe and #8 Holden Brock. Jets added one late to end the period 4-1. The Reffs let the third period go with the Hounds only taking one penalty for Body Checking and scoring one more, a really nice goal from #12 Mark Tassone assisted from #5 Drake Pilon. Mississauga scored two in the third, one at 3:27 and then caught a sleeping hounds in the final 14 seconds of the game to make the game LOOK closer with a 5-3 final score. The Jr. Hounds have came to Toronto to prove something, all three games have been very energetic and physical with the other teams. Penalties have come in bunches at times but the Hounds PK has been very sound and offensively dangerous. Good luck to the boys in the final game of the round robin...they have already secured a birth into the semies but no one is taking their foot off the gas pedal yet...our final goal and ulitmate success is still two games away. Great game boys...LETS GO HOUNDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Atom AA Hounds win 9-5
In game two SIS Hydraulic Solutions Jr. Hounds faced a more skilled team from Stratford. The Soo's Nicolas Sicoly opened the scoring quickly at 12:38 of the 13:00 min period, the rest of the period was very tight seeing no more scoring until Stratford tied it up at 4:27 then pulled ahead at 3:06 on a goal #30 Joey Roberts still can't believe he missed. No worries, the hounds are professionals at comming from behind and #14 Blake Antonello made sure they would finish the first tied 2-2 with a spectacular goal with 1:19 remaining. The Hounds came out quick again in the second and #5 Drake Pilon scored a beauty at 12:23. Stratford not letting up tied again at 11:07 only to see the Hounds pull ahead for the final time with one from #10 Nicolas Sicoly, #14 Blake Antonello and #13 Mark Tassone to end the period 6-3. There was no give up in Stratford and although the game was becoming out of reach they still managed to put in two past a very active and attentive Soo tender. Three more from the hounds #12 Mark Tassone, a break away from #6 Jonathan Dyer and #4 Daneil Cicchini with an end to end rush. Final score was 9-5. Assists were a plenty with Justin Lemieux, Matthew MacKay, Blake Antonello, Drake Pilon, Jonathan Dyer and two each from #10 Nicolas Sicoly and #11 Austin Row getting their names on the score sheet if they weren't there already. The teams were treated to an opening cerimonies featuring some spectacular figure skaters and a name from the past Red Kelly who won 6 stanley cups is his day. Fun was had by all, off for supper and some rest to get ready for day two featuring some of the best teams at the tournament with the Barrie Colts and the Mississauga Jets. Stay tuned...the site will be updated between games if time permits.

Two goals each from #11 Austin Rowe and #10 NIcolas Sicoly to make the final score 10-3 for the Jr. Hounds.
