Soo Source for Sports Wins
Bantam AA Playoff Championship

Soo Source for Sports won the Sault Major Hockey Association Bantam AA playoff championship this past weekend. The team, coached by Kevin Panco, went undefeated in the best-of-seven finals, beating the Paverdeck Blackhawks.

In addition to the playoff championship, Soo Source for Sports also won the Bantam AA league championship, and both the Steel City Tournament and the Presidents Cup in Nashville, Tennessee, earlier this winter.

The next action for Soo Source for Sports is the Ontario Hockey Federation Bantam AA championship being hosted in Sault Ste. Marie on April 12-14, 2013.

2013 - 2014 Minor Midget Program

The Sault Major Hockey Association will be offering a Minor Midget program for the 2013-2014 season .

The team for 2013-14 will be the Soo Thunder Hockey Club run by head coach Sal Lamantea .

The Thunder will be running a spring evaluation camp in April . At the conclusion of the camp a very limited number of players will be invited to their summer ice sessions in July and August .

The dates for the evaluation are:

• Monday Apr. 15th 7:30 - 9:30 - Essar Centre
• Wednesday Apr. 17th 7:30 - 9:30 - Essar Centre
• Thursday Apr. 18th 7:30 - 9:30 - Essar Centre
  (subject to change re. greyhounds or thunderbirds)
   
• Cost - $20 per session

Arturo Avalanche Win President's Cup In Chicago

The Bantam CC Arturo’s Avalanche won the Bantam B Presidents Cup in Chicago, Illinois this past weekend. The team, coached by Tom Chlebus, went undefeated in round-robin play, beating the Franklin Park Panthers 3-1, the Hoffman Estates Wolfpack 9-2, the Naperville Sabres 4-2 and the Lapeer Cyclones 1-0.


In the tournament final, Arturo’s Avalanche met for a rematch with the Lapeer Cyclone. The team took an early 3-0 lead which the Cyclones clawed back from, but in the end Arturo’s won with a final score of 6-4.

Source for Sports Win Gold In Nashville

 

The Bantam AA Soo Source for Sports won the Presidents Cup in Nashville, Tennessee this past week.  The team, coached by Kevin Panco, went undefeated in round-robin play, beating the Raleigh, North Carolina East Coast Eagles 5-1, the Carolina Junior Hurricanes 2-0 and the Kansas City Stars 3-0. In the tournament final, Soo Source for Sports met for a rematch with the East Coast Eagles.   The team took an early lead and held on to it, with a final score of 4-3. This is Soo Source for Sports first tournament since winning the Steel City Tournament earlier this winter.
